Hike Elgon
DAY 1: ARRIVAL
On Arrival at the Airport
you will be met by Laswift tours and safaris Company
representative who will pick you from the airport, and depending
on the time of arrival you can directly head to Jinja OR you may
spend the night in Kampala. If your flight arrives in the
morning, you are advised to change money this day, and also get
familiar with the city. Therefore, you can visit some exciting
places in Jinja town with the help of our driver. The places may
include Source of the Nile and Bujagali Falls.
Dinner and overnight at
Jinja Nile Resort OR Speke Hotel Kampala.
DAY 2: JINJA
After early breakfast,
hikers will enjoy visiting Mabira Forest for an interesting
forest walk. After lunch the group will enjoy traditional dances
by the local women. There are many options this day, such as
swimming, boat rides, floating on the mighty Nile. In the
evening return to dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort.
DAY 3: JINJA- MT ELGON
After early breakfast the
clients leave for Mt Elgon in Eastern Uganda.
Transfer to Sipi Falls.
After lunch, hike to the falls and return to your camp next to
Sipi Falls for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: MOUNTAIN HIKING
Early morning breakfast.
Then start the hike following the Kapkwata Trail.
A scenic hike through the
bamboo, heath and moor land gets you to the Piswa camp at 2850
meters. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the mountains.
Day 5: MOUNTAIN HIKING
Hike up to the rim of the
caldera through beautiful columns of lobelia Elgonensis. Visit
the hot springs and Suam Gorge before descending to the hunters
cave Camp 3850m.
Day 6: MOUNTAIN HIKING
Morning breakfast, then
ascend to the top of the caldera to the Wagagai Peak at 4321m.
Descend thereafter through the Jackson summit and the Jackson
pool to overnight at Mude Camp 3500m.
Day 7: ELGON- KAMPALA
Early morning, descend
through the Sasa trail to Budadiri then travel to Mbale town.
Then to Kampala to prepare for your departure. Dinner and
overnight at Speke Hotel Kampala.
DAY 8: DEPARTURE
Depending on the time of
departure, the clients may visit places they didn't go on
arrival. This may include the museum, Kasubi Tombs, National
Theatre to buy arts and crafts, and many more with the help of
our driver/ guide who will later take you to the airport for
departure back home.
We have two types of
Safaris, Some opt for Luxury Safari (lodges / hotels) and others
opt for Budget Safaris (camping and simple accommodation).

A Gorilla permit costs US $360 each. They must be booked
at least 3 months in advance
